NMMC launches special campaign targeting unauthorized hoardings in city

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has launched a special campaign starting Monday to remove unauthorized banners and hoardings across the city. The initiative aims to tackle the increasing presence of illegal advertisements that are cluttering public spaces.

In the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), banners congratulating winning candidates from the recent assembly elections have been prominently displayed. These banners are mostly seen at the entrances of the fruit market and onion-potato market. However, despite the municipality’s ongoing campaign against unauthorized signage, no action has been taken against the banners at APMC, which has raised questions among local market participants.

Farmer representatives, traders, and Mathadi workers have been actively supporting candidates in the APMC elections, and the banners are a reflection of these endorsements. With the municipal corporation intensifying its efforts to clear the city of such illegal advertisements, concerns are mounting over whether the APMC market will be included in the sweep.

According to Prabodhan Mawade, Officer of the Turbhe Division, NMMC, “Action is being taken against unauthorized banners across Navi Mumbai, and if any banners in the APMC market are found without proper permission, they will be removed promptly”.
