In response to the emergence of the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) virus in India, with cases reported in neighboring states and within Maharashtra, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has taken proactive steps to safeguard public health.
A 10-bed isolation room equipped with ventilators, monitors, and oxygen support is being prepared at the Municipal Hospital. This measure is part of a broader initiative by the Health Department to address the potential spread of the HMPV virus.
As of now, no HMPV-infected patients have been detected in Navi Mumbai. However, the NMMC is maintaining vigilance and has appealed to citizens to remain calm while adhering to preventive measures.
Dr. Prashant Jawade, Medical Officer of the NMMC said, "Although there are no HMPV cases in Navi Mumbai yet, we are ensuring readiness with a dedicated isolation ward and awareness campaigns. Citizens are urged to follow the issued guidelines to prevent any potential outbreak."
