NMMC School in Rabale hosts sanitary napkin awareness workshop for girls

Rabale: In a significant health and hygiene initiative under the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Education Department organized a workshop on sanitary napkin awareness for over 250 students from Classes IX and X. The event took place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj School in Ambedkar Nagar, Rabale.

The workshop aimed to promote health and hygiene among adolescent girls, addressing an important aspect of women's health. Shalaka Zarkar, a supervisor from the Katkari Pada Health Centre, delivered an informative session on the correct use of sanitary napkins and their implications for health. Her scientific guidance aimed to empower students with knowledge to make informed decisions regarding their personal hygiene.

During the session, teacher Vaishali Dhanawade stressed the importance of cleanliness, stating that hygiene is not just an individual responsibility but also a communal one. She encouraged students to think about their role in promoting cleanliness within their community.

Sports teacher Amol Kumar Waghmare referred to menstruation as a natural aspect of motherhood and emphasized the need for young girls to prioritize their health by understanding hygiene practices. The workshop also aimed to debunk common myths surrounding menstruation, providing accurate information to the attendees.

The event was introduced by teacher Neetu Gavit, and the session concluded with a vote of thanks from Vijay Chaure. Headmaster Amol Kharsamble, alongside teachers Ram Kandagule, health worker Sumitra Chaudhary, Asmita Patil, Neelam Padwal, and numerous students and staff, contributed to the successful execution of the workshop.
