The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has suspended Deputy Engineer Kishore Amarnani and Junior Engineer Vinod Jain of the Nerul Division for dereliction of duty in connection with the construction of a bicycle track along Palm Beach Road. The suspension follows the submission of a final bill by the engineers for the contractor's work, despite many items in the project remaining incomplete.

The bicycle track, which has been under construction by NMMC, has faced controversy from the start. Allegations were raised about the unauthorized cutting of trees for the project, leading to a warning from the then city engineer Sanjay Desai against taking legal action against those who defamed the municipality. However, the project continued, with the engineers moving forward with final approval for the work, despite several aspects being unfinished.

After a detailed review, a report highlighted various deficiencies in the work. As a result, a show-cause notice was issued to both engineers for their role in approving and submitting the final payment to the contractor, despite the incomplete work. This led to discussions in municipal circles, with many questioning the oversight and accountability of the engineers.

The Municipal Commissioner, following an investigation, decided to suspend both Amarnani and Jain.
