Four new schools and five schools approved upgradation

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has received approval from the state government to expand educational offerings in the city, allowing for the establishment of four new schools and the upgradation of five existing schools of which two schools will now be offering education upto junior college in all the three streams i.e., Science, Commerce and Arts. NMMC Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar confirmed this development, heralding it as a significant leap forward in educational accessibility.

Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar noted that NMMC's Education Department has been providing high-quality education through various schools for several years. This has led to an increase in demand for admissions, particularly in primary schools. Consequently, the authorities have decided to elevate the status of certain primary schools to junior colleges. Students enrolled in these institutions will now have the opportunity to pursue education up to the junior college level.

This expansion will begin in the academic year 2023-24, with the financial support of self-help elements.

Following schools have received approvals for the following educational enhancements:

·      Katkaripada Municipal School No. 104: This school, offering classes from 11th to 12th grade in all streams, including science, commerce, and arts, has been granted junior college status.

·      Kukshet Municipal School No. 121: Now authorized to offer education from 9th to 12th grade across all branches.

·      Adavali Bhutavali Municipal School No. 123:  This primary school will now provide education up to the 10th grade.

·      Divya School No. 120, Koparkhairane:  This school has received approval to offer classes from 1st to 10th grade for the English medium curriculum.

·      TurboStars School No. 95:  Recognized by the State Board, this school has been authorized to provide English medium education from 1st to 10th grade.
