Residents allege pond is surrounded with trash, affecting Ganesh visarjan

Airoli: The artificial immersion pond set up by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in Sector 5, Airoli, is facing backlash from local residents. Located at the RMV School grounds near Shivkrupa and Prathamesh Apartments, and adjacent to Chinchavali Udyan, the facility is surrounded by an unsightly pile of trash.

Devotees visiting the pond for Ganesh idol immersion were dismayed to find garden waste and other debris scattered around the area, which has been accumulating for weeks without any intervention from municipal authorities. This unkempt condition of the immersion site has led to growing frustration among residents.

“It is disheartening to see that the NMMC has established a Ganesh idol immersion facility in such a poorly maintained area. It is disrespectful to the sentiments of the devotees,” expressed a local resident.

Another resident voiced their discontent, stating, “The presence of trash around the facility reflects poorly on the civic body’s efforts. The NMMC needs to address this issue immediately and ensure the area is cleaned up.”
