Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) School no. 55, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Vidyalaya in Ambedkar Nagar, Rabale, has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the top rank in Maharashtra's  ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Shala Sundar Shala' campaign. This initiative, aimed at enhancing the educational development of students, witnessed participation from over 98,000 schools across the state.

The second phase of the campaign, which ran from September 5 to September 15, 2024, was celebrated in a ceremony at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai. The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister of School Education and Marathi Language Deepak Kesarkar, and various dignitaries, including the Commissioner of the Education Department, Suraj Mandhare. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's Deputy Commissioner of the Education Department, Sangharatna Khillare, along with the school's principal, Ranjana Vansha, accepted the prestigious award on behalf of the institution.

This recognition not only highlights the quality of education provided at Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Vidyalaya but also reflects the commitment of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation towards educational excellence. The award, which includes a prize of Rs. 31 lakh, is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the school’s administration, teachers, students, and parents.

More than 1.91 crore students and over 6.6 lakh teachers participated in the campaign this year, which emphasizes fostering a sense of responsibility among all stakeholders involved in education, including management, parents, and students. The evaluation criteria for the schools involved various factors, including infrastructure, implementation of government policies, and educational achievements.

Former mayor Sudhakar Sonawane has been instrumental in the school’s progress, ensuring that innovative practices are consistently implemented. The active participation of all stakeholders in this campaign has made it a point of pride for the school community and the parents supporting their children's education.

Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Vidyalaya has a distinguished reputation, not only for its academic excellence but also for its achievements in sports, culture, hygiene, and environmental initiatives. Over the past five years, more than 200 students have appeared in merit lists for various competitive examinations, and the school has produced numerous state and national-level athletes.

The school has been recognized for its efforts in cleanliness, winning the National Swachh Vidyalaya award for the 2016-17 academic year, and has maintained its reputation for hygiene through consistent efforts in the past seven years. Additionally, the school has received the Green School Award for its commitment to environmental awareness.

In line with its social responsibility, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Vidyalaya organizes annual blood donation camps and has actively participated in relief efforts during emergencies, such as the floods in Mahad. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the school implemented initiatives to ensure uninterrupted learning, showcasing its dedication to the education of its students.

The school is equipped with modern facilities, including a Zero Energy School model with solar panels, an air-conditioned auditorium, and various sports facilities. It also houses an Atal Tinkering Robotic Lab and separate laboratories for secondary students.
