Initiative to ease travel during board exams
To ensure hassle-free travel for students appearing for their 10th board exams, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) has launched a special bus service starting from 1st March. NMMT Manager Yogesh Kaduskar confirmed about the initiative, which has been implemented under the directive of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde.
As the board exams coincide with peak office hours, regular buses are often overcrowded, forcing students to rely on private transport such as rickshaws, leading to unnecessary expenses and increased traffic congestion. Recognising this issue, the NMMC has introduced dedicated buses to provide a smoother and more affordable commute for students.
The special buses will operate on key routes, including Airoli to Vashi Railway Station, Ghansoli to Sanpada Railway Station, and C.B.D. Bus Station to Vashi Sector 7. This service aims to prevent delays and ensure that students reach their exam centres on time.
The NMMT has urged students to take advantage of this facility, which is expected to ease travel woes for both students and parents while reducing traffic congestion in the city.
