The eagerly awaited resumption of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport's (NMMT) Bus Tracker Service with Intelligent Transportation Management System (ITMS) has brought relief to commuters, who were inconvenienced since last Tuesday due to a temporary suspension of the service during server shifting work.

The ITMS-backed Bus Tracker Service, has been a key component in efficiently managing the city's bus services for several years. However, a recent disruption in service left passengers without real-time information on bus schedules, prompting them to resort to alternative modes of transportation.

The pause in service resulted in a decrease in passengers and subsequent financial losses for the enterprise. Furthermore, there was criticism regarding the delayed communication from the administration regarding the expected duration of the service interruption. Responding to public concerns, the administration eventually issued a notification assuring the swift restoration of the service.

Despite the initial assurance, it was discovered that the service remained inactive until Friday night, causing additional inconvenience to the commuting public.

However, with the completion of the server shift, the Bus Tracker Service with ITMS is now reported to be functioning even more effectively than before. Commuters can once again access vital information such as the nearest bus stop to their location, the distance to the stop, and the estimated walking time. Post-arrival at the bus stop, the system provides details on available bus numbers, their schedules, and real-time tracking of their current locations.

Passengers have expressed satisfaction with the renewed service, highlighting its role in facilitating informed travel decisions and enhancing overall commuting experience. The reinstatement of the Bus Tracker Service with ITMS is expected to contribute to increased ridership and operational efficiency for NMMT, reaffirming its commitment to providing a reliable and technologically advanced public transportation system for the commuters.
