The fire department of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, a crucial emergency service provider, is facing severe neglect, with contractual employees not receiving their salaries for the past two months and the department’s landline phone being out of service since February 16.
Shiv Sena (UBT) Ambernath Assembly Officer Raj Mahadik has accused the municipal administration of gross negligence, stating that despite these hardships, the fire department employees continue to fulfill their duties impartially. However, the administration’s failure to meet even basic requirements is a grave concern.
The absence of a functioning landline at the Netaji Chowk fire station in Ulhasnagar-5 has left citizens unable to contact emergency services directly, putting lives at risk. Mahadik has demanded that the municipal administration immediately restore the fire department’s telephone service and provide backup contact numbers for public use.
In addition, Shiv Sena has called for the urgent disbursement of pending salaries to alleviate employees’ financial distress. The party has also insisted on a thorough review of the department’s infrastructure to ensure that such critical issues do not arise in the future.
