Former local corporators, along with concerned citizens, have registered their firm opposition to the proposed establishment for dance bar at Plot No. 09, Sector 17, Palm Beach, citing potential disturbances to the peaceful residential environment.

Former local corporators Rupali Bhagat and Vaijayanti Bhagat have submitted objection letters to the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate, addressed to Senior Police Inspector Pruthwiraj Ghorpade of the Licensing Branch. Accompanied by women and senior citizens from the area, the corporators voiced concerns over the adverse social impact of granting a license to such an establishment within a residential zone.

Dashrath Bhagat, former opposition leader in the municipal corporation, also joined the protest and warned of an intense mass movement and potential legal action if the liquor and entertainment licenses for the establishment, named Hausa Restaurant, are not revoked.

Residents of Sector 1 and Sectors 13–19 in Sanpada, known for their peaceful and culturally rich community, expressed outrage at the proposed dance bar. Women and senior citizens have strongly opposed the bar, citing concerns about potential law-and-order issues and a decline in the locality’s moral and social fabric.

“We urge the concerned authorities to uphold the basic rights of citizens to live in peace. Allowing such establishments will disrupt the harmony and respect for Indian culture that defines our community”, stated Dashrath Bhagat during the protest.

The former corporators and residents have requested the immediate cancellation of the bar’s liquor license, which they claim was issued in violation of existing laws. They also urged the police, excise department, and municipal corporation to prevent the issuance of any future licenses for commercial liquor shops or dance bars in the residential area.

Failing this, the residents have vowed to escalate their opposition through peaceful protests and legal means to safeguard their community.
