Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has initiated a plastic-free school concept under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde. This initiative aligns with the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva fortnight, aiming to eliminate single-use plastics from daily life.

As part of this campaign, an innovative activity was organized at the school level where students crafted decorative objects from plastic bottles. Over 157,000 students from 333 private schools, along with 57 primary schools and 23 secondary schools, participated in this creative endeavour. The schools hosted exhibitions showcasing the students' handicrafts, attracting the attention of many parents who came to appreciate their children's talents.

The creativity displayed by the students was remarkable, with various inventions created from plastic bottles, including pen holders, vases, home décor items, and flowers. The diversity of decorative items on display highlighted the students' artistic skills and ingenuity.
