Over 3,500 societies back campaign to abolish CIDCO transfer charges in Navi Mumbai

Vashi: Activists from the Navi Mumbai Citizens Foundation, Sahakarbharti, Navi Mumbai Housing Federation, and Navi Mumbai Traders Federation have initiated a movement to abolish CIDCO transfer charges. The campaign has gained significant momentum, with over 3,500 societies lending their support. The movement’s organizers have reached out to leaders from various political parties, receiving promises of assistance in raising the issue with CIDCO and the government.

Shiv Sena deputy leader Vijay Nahata has taken a proactive stance, meeting with CIDCO officials to demand a waiver of the transfer fees. Nahata also assured the movement’s committee members that he would bring the matter to the Chief Minister's attention. Prominent political figures like MLA Ganesh Naik, MLA Manda Mhatre, and MLA Prashant Thakur have expressed their support, with MLA Naik and MLA Manda Mhatre writing to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, seeking a meeting with CIDCO officials to discuss the issue.

So far, the committee has held meetings with key leaders including MLA Ganesh Naik, MLA Manda Mhatre, Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Vijay Nahata, MLA Prashant Thakur (Panvel), MLA Mahesh Baldi (Uran), Anil Kaushik (Congress District President, Navi Mumbai), Vitthal More (District President, Shiv Sena Thackeray Group), and Chandrakant Patil (District President, NCP Sharad Pawar faction). During these meetings, the leaders have assured the activists of their support, acknowledging that eliminating the transfer fees would bring significant relief to common citizens.

The committee remains determined to push forward with its efforts. Members present during these meetings included Satish Nikam, Pramod Joshi, Bhaskar Mhatre, Sunil Chhajed, Sunil Chaudhary, Uday Tandale, Subhash Mhatre, and Rohit Gupta.
