Navi Mumbai: The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has taken decisive action against unauthorized constructions and encroachments in Navi Mumbai and the Naina area between 2021 and 2024. During this period, more than 5,000 illegal constructions were demolished as part of an extensive eviction campaign. The operations also targeted illegal activities such as debris dumping and soil theft.

Under the leadership of CIDCO Chief Vigilance Officer Suresh Mengde, CIDCO has conducted 968 eviction drives against unauthorized constructions and encroachments from January 2020 to June 2024. This includes the removal of 258 RCC constructions, 640 brick constructions, 4,587 temporary encroachments and huts, 244 hoardings, and 15 crushers. The campaign also led to the registration of 48 cases related to unauthorized debris dumping, soil theft, and illegal activities, with 124 vehicles including dumpers, trucks, and excavators being impounded.

Vijay Singhal, CIDCO Vice President and Managing Director, emphasized the organization’s commitment to maintaining Navi Mumbai’s planned growth. "CIDCO's prime duty is to prevent unrestrained growth of the city. We have consistently taken strict measures to curb malpractices. The ongoing eviction actions reflect our dedication to upholding urban order and legality," he stated.
