Citizens express displeasure

The residents are dissatisfied with the administration of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) for leasing out Phadke Maidan for weddings and fairs. The residents allege that after such events leave, the vast maidan converts it into a garbage dump and have questioned the municipal administration’s policy regarding event organizers.

The issue was further raised by Shiv Sena Sub-city Chief and former corporator Mohan Ugle, who urged the administration to stop renting out Phadke Maidan for weddings and fairs. Despite this, the administration has continued to allow such events.

Phadke Maidan, located in Kalyan West, is a popular spot for morning walkers, sports activities, and local events. However, the situation has worsened with the use of the ground for private functions like weddings.

“The ground is meant for the public to engage in sports and recreational activities, but whenever weddings or fairs are held here, the place is left filthy. This creates a serious inconvenience for everyone who comes here for healthy activities. I had requested the KDMC not to allow such events, but despite repeated appeals, they continue to permit them,” said Mohan Ugle.

Ugle further expressed his frustration with KDMC’s lack of action and warned that if the situation persists, he may escalate the matter by approaching the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister for intervention.
