As the monsoon season concludes and winter approaches, the commissioner of the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC), Mangesh Chitale, has urged citizens to take necessary precautions to avoid seasonal diseases. The recent climatic fluctuations have led to an increase in illnesses, and the public is urged to remain vigilant.

Commissioner Chitale emphasized that with climate change, seasonal diseases like influenza strains H1N1 and H3N2 are on the rise, presenting symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, and body aches. Additionally, the occurrence of insect-borne diseases has also been noted. However, he reassured the public that the positivity rate for various diseases in the municipal sector has decreased compared to the previous month, urging citizens not to panic.

In response to these health concerns, the Municipal Corporation is conducting regular house-to-house surveys as per government directives. This includes container surveys, fever surveys, and assessment in the construction sector. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Gosavi advised citizens to visit the nearest civil primary health centre if they experience symptoms like fever, cold, or cough.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vaibhav Viddate emphasised the importance of following the health department’s guidelines to ensure community health and safety. Citizens are urged to cooperate in these preventive measures to help maintain a healthy environment during this transitional season.

Citizens are encouraged to maintain health vigilance by eliminating mosquito breeding sites and keeping their surroundings clean. Essential preventive measures include:
