In a bid to promote and preserve the Marathi language, Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) successfully celebrated the Marathi Language Conservation Fortnight, carrying out a series of educational and cultural activities across the city.
Under the guidance of PMC Commissioner Mangesh Chitale, the event saw participation from students, educators, and officials alike, contributing to the celebration of Marathi as the state language.
PMC, through its Education Department, organised a variety of competitions and events throughout the fortnight. These included poetry recitation, oratory contests, essay writing, and neat writing competitions, along with the unveiling of a plaque for the propagation of the state anthem. These activities were designed to raise awareness about the richness and importance of the Marathi language, especially among the youth.
In addition, a poetry conference and poetry competition will be held as part of the ongoing celebrations. Over the course of the fortnight, ten schools in Panvel Municipal Corporation actively participated, with students competing in a range of activities aimed at deepening their appreciation for Marathi and its cultural significance.
Students from all ten schools engaged in the competitions, which were intended to foster a deeper connection with the language and its value in today’s society.
A key highlight of the celebration was the unveiling of a standy of the state anthem, which was inaugurated by Commissioner Mangesh Chitale on 28th January. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to ensure that Marathi is not only preserved but also promoted across various platforms.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kailas Gawde, Deputy Commissioner Babasaheb Rajale, Assistant Commissioner Swaroop Kharge, Deputy Engineer Vilas Chavan, and Chief Public Relations Officer Dr. Raju Patodkar were present to witness the unveiling.
