Panvel: In response to an incident of unauthorized tree cutting in Tondare village, Panvel Municipal Corporation has taken decisive action by lodging a criminal case at Taloja Police Station against unidentified individuals. The incident, involving the unlawful cutting of 12 mangoes, banana, and shevga trees on a farmer's land, was reported to the Municipal Corporation's Tree Authority Department.

Commissioner Mangesh Chitale's directive prompted the filing of charges under municipal regulations, which mandate prior permission for tree removal within Panvel Municipal Corporation limits. While some trees were categorized as vegetable trees and not subject to legal action, the unauthorized cutting of mango trees prompted immediate legal action.

Authorities emphasized the importance of safeguarding tree cover and the environment, urging compliance with municipal regulations to prevent such incidents in the future. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the illegal tree cutting, underscoring the municipality's commitment to environmental conservation and lawful land use.q
