In preparation for the upcoming Assembly General Election 2024, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) is spearheading a comprehensive voter awareness initiative within the Panvel Constituency 188. Under the guidance of Commissioner Mangesh Chitale and SVEEP Chief and City Engineer, various programs are being implemented to encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote.

On October 4, 2024, Asha Sevikas commenced the distribution of appeal sheets regarding voting by visiting homes in areas with low voter turnout. This house-to-house campaign aims to directly engage with residents and emphasize the significance of participating in the electoral process.

In addition to the door-to-door outreach, the Municipal Corporation is utilizing mobile Integrated Communication (IC) vans to spread awareness across public spaces. These vans showcase videos and photographs highlighting the importance of voting, along with audio clips providing information about the voting process, all aimed at educating and motivating citizens.

With the Panvel Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for November 20, the SVEEP program (Systematic Voters Education Electoral Participation Program) is actively being executed across the 188 municipal jurisdictions. City Engineer Sanjay Katekar, who leads the SVEEP team, is overseeing various initiatives in colleges and schools to further promote voter education.

Activities planned under this campaign include prabhat pheris, bike and cycle rallies, debating sessions, slogan contests, painting competitions, and gatherings for women in self-help groups. Municipal officers, including Engineers Gajanan Deshmukh and Prasad Parab, along with Vinaya Mhatre of DANUELM and Navnath Pawar, have been working tirelessly to ensure the successful implementation of these programs.
