In a significant move to enhance educational facilities, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced its plan to establish two new primary schools in Kamothe and one in Taloja. This initiative comes in response to longstanding demands from parents for municipal schools in CIDCO colonies.
Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale revealed plans to begin student admissions within the next two years.
The corporation has formulated an education policy aimed at serving over 20,000 students from infancy through seventh grade. Currently, municipal schools are limited to Panvel city, with no facilities available in Taloja, Kalamboli, Kamothe, Kharghar, or Navade colonies. As part of its strategy, the Municipal Corporation is actively working on transferring school plots from CIDCO and preparing budgets for constructing school buildings on designated lands.
During a recent meeting, Commissioner Chitale instructed City Engineer Sanjay Katekar to expedite the establishment of these new schools, which will be built on approximately one acre of land each and will include playground facilities.
