The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) will launch the National Deworming Campaign on December 4, distributing deworming tablets to all children between the ages of 1 and 19 years. This initiative aims to combat worm infestation, a common issue that hampers the physical development and overall health of children.
A city task force meeting was held at the municipal headquarters on Monday, November 25, to discuss the implementation of the campaign. The meeting, led by Commissioner and Administrator Mangesh Chitale, focused on planning the successful execution of the program within the municipal jurisdiction. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vaibhav Viddate, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Gosavi, Education Officer Ramesh Chavan, and other key medical and education department officials attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Dr. Viddate emphasized the importance of collecting primary information on schools, housing societies, and local populations within the municipal area to ensure the campaign reaches all beneficiaries. The deworming tablets will be distributed to children in Anganwadis, government and private schools, junior colleges, and the first-year students of senior colleges.
In the event any child misses the deworming dose on December 4, a second round of distribution will be held on December 10.
