In a bid to promote products made by self-help groups under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihood Mission, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) is organizing a grand sales exhibition from 10th to 12th January 2025. This event, scheduled in the run-up to the Makar Sankranti festival, will be held across all four wards of the city: Panvel, Kalamboli, Kamothe, and Nawade.
The exhibition aims to provide a market for goods produced by 415 self-help groups, primarily consisting of women from underprivileged sections of society. The initiative is aligned with the mission of creating livelihood opportunities and empowering women entrepreneurs in the region.
According to Deputy Commissioner Babasaheb Rajale, the exhibition is an important step in supporting these self-help groups. "This sales exhibition will offer various products that will be perfect for Makar Sankranti celebrations, benefiting both the producers and consumers," said Rajale.
The exhibition will feature a wide range of products including cutlery, snacks, spices, papad, modak, organic jaggery, floral jewellery, sarees, clothing, ornaments, henna cones, and torans. The event is being organized under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale and Assistant Commissioner Smita Kale, who has carefully planned the sale in line with the festival season.
