In a move aimed at streamlining administrative processes, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) is adopting the e-office system to expedite office work across various departments and ward offices within the municipal limits. The new system was introduced on Wednesday, 27th November, through a comprehensive training session held at the Adya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Theatre. The training was conducted by officials from the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

The initiative, following the Maharashtra Government's standard procedure for implementing e-office systems, is expected to bring significant improvements to the efficiency of office work. In his address during the training session, Deputy Commissioner Kailas Gawde highlighted the importance and functionality of the e-office software system in speeding up government work.

"The e-office system will help to control the documents coming into the office, reducing the chances of lost files and improving overall work efficiency," said Commissioner Mangesh Chitale, who has been actively following up on the project for the past two months. "The system will digitize files and provide greater transparency and faster processing."

The e-office software, provided free of charge by the Government of Maharashtra, will be implemented in Panvel Municipal Corporation with the assistance of NIC. Laxmikant Garje and Suresh Sura, project coordinators from NIC, provided detailed insights into how the system will operate.

At the training session, key municipal officers, including Deputy Commissioners Dr. Vaibhav Viddate, Babasaheb Rajle, Ravikiran Ghodke, and Prasenjit Karlekar, along with Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Gosavi, City Engineer Sanjay Katekar, and others, were present.

In the coming days, training will continue for each department within the Municipal Corporation, and the e-office system is expected to be fully operational within the next ten days. This transition to digital systems is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of Panvel Municipal Corporation's operations, benefiting both the staff and the citizens of Panvel.

Key Features of the E-Office System:

  • Paperless Administration: The system promises a more transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly approach by reducing paperwork and streamlining processes.
  • File Management: E-office will improve document management, making it easier to track, store, and manage files.
  • Work Flexibility: With the new system, employees can access office work from anywhere, allowing for greater flexibility and efficiency.
  • Monitoring and Tracking: A dashboard feature will allow monitoring the status of files—whether pending, processed, or closed—ensuring smoother workflow management.

Benefits for the Public:

  • The system is expected to increase the speed of work in the municipal corporation and make services more accessible to the citizens. The implementation of e-office will ensure a more dynamic, transparent, and responsive administration.
