The Property Tax Department of Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has collected Rs 412 crore in the financial year 2024-25, setting a new record for the highest collection to date.

This achievement was made possible by implementing a well-planned approach throughout the year. As part of the strategy, the offices remained open on holidays to allow citizens to pay their property taxes before the end of March.

To prevent financial loss to the Municipal Corporation, direct action for recovery was initiated from commercial property tax holders. A team of 13 recovery squads was formed to work in coordination with ward officers.

In March, the civic corporation collected between Rs 1.05 crore in property tax every day. On March 19, the corporation achieved a record collection, surpassing the previous year's total. Last year, Rs 360 crore was collected by March 31, said Swaroop Kharge, deputy municipal commissioner, PMC.
