Panvel: In preparation for the upcoming Assembly General Election 2024, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched an engaging voter awareness campaign under the SVEEP (Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation) program to boost voter turnout in the Panvel constituency (188) on November 20. The campaign gained momentum with a flash mob organized at prominent locations, including Panvel Railway Station, Panvel Bus Station, and Orion Mall, drawing enthusiastic participation from citizens.
The event was organized under the leadership of City Engineer Sanjay Katekar, with support from Engineers Gajanan Deshmukh, Prasad Parab, and municipal officials. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of exercising one’s right to vote and to encourage maximum voter participation in the upcoming elections.
As part of the SVEEP initiative, additional awareness activities are being carried out across schools and colleges in the Panvel Municipal Corporation area, including elocution, slogan, and painting competitions. Special outreach events such as prabhat pheris (morning processions), bike and cycle rallies, and meetings with self-help groups are also planned. The initiative also includes a signature campaign and a selfie point to encourage people to pledge their commitment to voting.
In addition to the flash mob, a video message from Panvel Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale, urging citizens to vote in large numbers, is being played at various events at Adya Krantiveer Vasudev Balwant Phadke Theatre.
