In celebration of the upcoming Makar Sankranti festival, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has organized a three-day sales exhibition showcasing products from women in self-help groups, under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihood Mission. The exhibition, held from January 10 to January 12, 2025, has received a tremendous response from the citizens of Panvel.

As part of the initiative, Deputy Commissioner Babasaheb Rajale and Assistant Commissioner Smita Kale visited the exhibition on Friday. They toured the three sections of the sales event, interacting with the women from self-help groups, and learning more about the various products on display.

Notable attendees included Department Head Namdev Pichad, City Campaign Manager Navnath Pawar, Vinaya Mhatre, and Vikas Thakur, who were present to support the event.

The Panvel Municipal Corporation has been running 415 self-help groups under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihood Mission, focusing on empowering women below the poverty line. Through these self-help groups, women produce a wide variety of goods, ranging from food items to handmade crafts. To provide them with livelihood opportunities and encourage local participation, a large-scale exhibition has been organized across three wards in Panvel.
