A manhole cover left at the side of the footpath- A safety hazard

Kharghar: Residents at Sector 19, Kharghar have raised concerns and are drawing attention to the poor conditions of roads in their neighbourhood which pose risks for both drivers and pedestrians.

There is also a manhole cover which has been left discarded at the side of the road, which not only obstructs parking space but is also a safety hazard for walkers nearby.

Nakkul Pathak, a Kharghar resident who regularly highlights issues in this node, tweeted about this issue to highlight it on social media.

He said, “Dear Panvel Municipal Corporation, where is there any place to drive? How safe is this? Please show some responsibility towards citizens. There has been nothing done in Sector 19. There is also this manhole cover and frame lying on the road, this is not safe at all, please get it cleared.”

He added, “Roads are full of potholes, this is the development done by the local administration.”

Other residents from Sector 19, Kharghar have also voiced their grievances and the difficulties they face while driving.

Arvind Koli, a Kharghar resident said, “Driving through Sector 19, Kharghar is a nightmare. Some potholes are so deep and wide that they give you a jolt down your spine. It is also not good for the car to navigate such roads. We are honest taxpayers and we pay property tax on time to PMC, so why are we left with such shoddy roads every monsoon.”

He added that now they will have to wait for the end of the monsoon season for any repair work to be undertaken.

Koli said, “Why is Kharghar neglected by the PMC? We deserve good roads like any other citizen in top-tier cities in this state. Two-wheelers are at a higher risk of accidents due to deep potholes.”
