Preparations underway for PM Narendra Modi's visit to Thane

Thane:  A meeting of senior officials was convened at Valavalkar Maidan in Kasarvadavali, to finalize arrangements for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister is set to attend the Chief Minister's Women's Empowerment Mission program on October 5, 2024, with an expected attendance of around 40,000 citizens.

During the preparatory meeting, officials discussed crucial logistics, including contingency plans in light of predicted rain, parking arrangements, and necessary health services. Collector Ashok Shingare emphasized the need for alternative electricity and internet supply solutions, as well as effective communication with citizens regarding traffic management. He indicated that road closures in Thane district must be clearly communicated to mitigate congestion during the event.

Approximately 1,200 buses are anticipated to facilitate transportation from Thane and surrounding municipalities to the Ghodbunder Road area, further highlighting the scale of the event.

The meeting saw participation from various senior officials, including Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Thane, Rohan Ghuge, who reviewed the current status of key infrastructures such as the main auditorium, helipad, and CCTV networks. Discussions also included parking arrangements for both cars and buses, with the Public Works Department planning spaces for approximately 1,200 vehicles.

Resident Deputy Collector Sandeep Mane provided a presentation on bus parking strategies and travel routes for dignitaries, ensuring all critical aspects of the event were thoroughly examined. Following the meeting, a joint inspection of the venue and helipad was conducted by the senior officers present to ensure all arrangements meet the required standards.
