Public outrage over deadly potholes near All Cargo Logistics

top-news

A dangerous stretch of road near the entrance of the All Cargo Logistics has become a cause for concern among motorists following a fatal accident, prompting demands for urgent action from the authorities. The Khopta-Koproli road, a crucial thoroughfare connecting Uran to the JNPA port area, has been marred by treacherous potholes, posing a grave risk to motorcyclists traversing the route.

Despite significant investments by both the Public Works Department and private entities, including the All Cargo management, the road's condition has deteriorated alarmingly. Reports indicate that substantial sums of public funds, amounting to crores of rupees, were allocated for the road's maintenance. Additionally, the initiative spearheaded by Uran MLA Mahesh Baldi, which secured approximately Rs.3.75 crores through the National Highway India Authority for repairs, has failed to yield tangible results.

Frustration among commuters has reached a boiling point as they call for immediate measures to rectify the hazardous conditions prevailing on the roadway. Demands for a comprehensive inspection followed by swift repairs have echoed across the affected community.

In light of mounting criticism, officials from the National Highway India Authority and the Public Works Department have come under scrutiny for their perceived inaction. When contacted Naresh Pawar, Deputy Engineer of the Public Works Department Uran, declined to comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, assurances have been made regarding an imminent inspection of the troubled road, with plans to hold the responsible contractor accountable for the necessary repairs. Y N Ghotekar, Senior Engineer at the National Highway India Authority, emphasized the need for prompt action to address the perilous conditions and restore safety to the vital transportation artery.
