Rabale police recover Rs. 21 lakh in cyber fraud

In a commendable effort, the Rabale Police successfully recovered ₹21.50 lakh stolen in a cyber fraud case, returning it to a senior citizen from Airoli. Their swift action has earned widespread appreciation from the community.
The victim, 72-year-old Ramakrishna Narayan Mhatre, a resident of Green World Society, Airoli, was defrauded of ₹36 lakh by an online scammer on November 14, 2024. Promptly reporting the incident to the Rabale Police, Mhatre sought help from their cyber cell.
A dedicated team comprising Police Sub-Inspector Balaji Pawane, Constable Priya Dubey, and Constable Vikas Rale acted immediately, tracing the stolen amount and recovering ₹21.50 lakh. They not only ensured the recovery but also assisted Mhatre in completing legal formalities to secure his funds.
Expressing his heartfelt gratitude, Mhatre visited the Rabale Police Station on Thursday to personally thank Constables Priya Dubey and Vikas Rale. As a token of appreciation, he offered sweets to the officers who had gone above and beyond in their duty.
Senior Police Inspector Balkrishna Sawant lauded the team's efforts and emphasized the importance of reporting cyber fraud cases promptly. “Quick action is crucial in such cases. This incident highlights the importance of vigilance and cooperation with authorities to combat cybercrime effectively,” he said.
