Kharghar: A growing concern over waste management has sparked frustration among residents of Hiranandani, Kharghar, after shop owners and street vendors irresponsibly leave garbage after closing their establishments.

A local resident, Suresh Gudpe, took to social media to voice his frustration, highlighting the unsightly accumulation of waste in the area, much of it caused by vendors. Gudpe pointed out that the clean-up efforts were funded by taxpayer money, raising concerns about accountability and sustainable waste management.

In his tweet on X, Gudpe said, “This is the scene at Hiranandani, Kharghar during morning. The shop owners and rediwalas do business here and spread garbage all over the place. This garbage is being cleaned with the taxpayer’s money.” He tagged the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC), Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), and CM Eknath Shinde, urging them to address the situation.

Images shared on social media show piles of waste, including plastic wrappers, food packaging, and other materials scattered along the streets, mainly attributed to businesses operating in the area. Despite ongoing efforts by municipal workers to clean up the mess, residents are concerned about the lack of long-term solutions to prevent such waste accumulation.

Vignesh Natarajan, a resident from Sector 7, Kharghar, said, “While businesses add vibrancy to Kharghar, they must also take responsibility for their waste.” His comments reflect a growing frustration among locals about the inconsistency in maintaining public cleanliness in the area.
