Congress leader calls to blacklist contractor
Nerul: The condition of a public park at Sector 2, Nerul, has sparked frustration among local residents due to the poor state of playground equipment. Vidya Bhandekar, Secretary of Navi Mumbai District Congress, has called on the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Commissioner, Dr. Kailas Shinde, to take immediate action to repair or replace the broken toys. She also demanded that the contractor responsible for the substandard installations be blacklisted and barred from future municipal projects.
The park, which is maintained by the Municipal Administration, has been facing issues for months, with recently installed playground equipment deteriorating quickly. Local children have been left unable to use the facilities due to broken toys scattered across the park. Bhandekar has been consistently pushing municipal authorities to address the situation.
Criticizing the contractor's negligence and use of substandard materials, Bhandekar stressed the need for strict measures, including blacklisting the contractor, to prevent similar issues in future municipal projects. With Diwali approaching, she highlighted the urgency of the repairs and urged the Municipal Commissioner to prioritize the restoration or replacement of the playground equipment to avoid further inconvenience for local children.
