Residents of Kharghar express concern over potholes and deteriorating road conditions

Kharghar is grappling with the growing issue of potholes and poor road conditions across multiple sectors. From Sector 20 to Sector 35, locals are voicing their frustrations over the state of the roads, which they say have become increasingly hazardous and difficult to navigate.

Potholes have emerged as a primary concern, with many roads dotted with deep craters that pose a risk to motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Residents reported frequent instances of vehicle damage and mishaps due to these road hazards. Moreover, the uneven surfaces make commuting a challenging and uncomfortable experience for everyone.

“I dread driving through Kharghar these days. Potholes are everywhere, and it’s like navigating through a lunar crater. It’s not just inconvenient; it’s dangerous,” said Rajesh Sharma, a resident of Sector 21.
The main road of Sector 34, 35, from Prashant Corner to Village 20-21, is in a deplorable condition. The roads outside Goodwill Paradise in Sector 15 and the junction near Swarna Jewellers remain neglected, despite adjacent lanes receiving repairs.

At Tawa Junction, the absence of a traffic signal makes congestion worse. Residents also highlighted the rampant illegal parking near Neelkanth Sweets and Bank of India in Sector 35.

The poor road conditions are not limited to potholes. Many roads suffer from cracks, uneven surfaces, and inadequate drainage systems, exacerbating the problem during the monsoon season. Waterlogging during monsoon is a common occurrence, further deteriorating the roads and creating additional hazards for commuters.

“The roads here are an invitation for traffic accidents to happen. It’s not just about inconvenience; it's about safety. Service roads in Sector 21, once dug up by MNGL and filled back by residents, remain in a dire state for over a year. We need immediate action from the authorities to address this issue before someone gets seriously hurt,” said Priya Singh, a resident of Sector 21, Kharghar.

“We pay our taxes, and have always obeyed the rule of law, we deserve. It is time that the safety and well-being of Kharghar residents is taken seriously by fixing these roads once and for all and not just when the Prime Minister or a high ranking official decides to visit Kharghar,” said Neel Kamal Mishra, a resident of Sector 12, Kharghar.
