Residents slam illegal parking and traffic violations near Vibgyor School in Vastu Vihar, Kharghar

Traffic chaos on Vastu Vihar Road in Kharghar has become a growing concern for residents, who are frustrated by the persistent issue of illegal parking and reckless driving, particularly near Vibgyor School. The disorderly situation, exacerbated during school hours, has sparked outrage on social media and calls for intervention by authorities.

Anand Siva, a resident of Kharghar said, “Navi Mumbai Poice, why would you allow this? How difficult is it for these people to park their cars in a single file and keep the roads free? U-turn anywhere, wrong direction driving. What is Vibgyor School teaching kids to disobey rules? Please act accordingly.”

A picture shared by the resident shows the gravity of the problem. The image shows rows of cars parked haphazardly along both sides of the road, leaving little room for free movement.

Pedestrians, including parents and children, are seen navigating between parked vehicles, highlighting the risks posed by the situation. Motorists driving in the wrong direction and taking U-turns at undesignated spots add to the already chaotic scene.

Jaya Mhatre, a resident of Sector 7, Kharghar said, “The primary source of the problem appears to be the school’s drop-off and pick-up hours, during which parents park vehicles along both sides of the road. This not only creates bottlenecks but also poses safety risks for pedestrians. Residents point out that the lack of enforcement has emboldened violators, making the situation worse.”

Niraj Shah, another Kharghar resident said, “Parents park wherever they want without any consideration for others. It’s impossible to drive through this road during peak hours.”

Yatish Manjrekar, another resident added, “The situation is unsafe for children and parents alike. It’s time the school management and authorities took responsibility.”

Residents are urging the Kharghar Traffic Police, and the Navi Mumbai traffic police to take swift action. They have called for better parking regulations, stricter fines for violators, and traffic marshals to manage the chaos during peak hours. They have also appealed to Vibgyor School to sensitize parents about responsible parking and ensure traffic discipline.
