Prithvi Shaw, Lalit Yadav shine on winning causes

Route Mobile was once again well served by their skipper Prithvi Shaw as they beat Take Sports by 80 runs in a Group A league encounter of the 19th DY Patil T20 Cup at the DY Patil University Ground in Nerul.

The former Mumbai skipper Shaw whirlwind 25-ball 65 laced with 13 power packed boundaries and two sixes was equally complemented by Sagar Chabria 33-ball 66 who too hit seven boundaries and three sixes in their entertaining opening stand of 82 runs. Towards the end all-rounder Shams Mulani stroked a quick-fire 59 off 34 balls with nine boundaries and a six. Route Mobile ended on 232 for four in their 20 overs. In their response debutants Take Sports was bowled out for 152.

As may be recalled the charismatic skipper of the U-19 World Cup India winning team, Shaw, had scored a 36-ball 66 as his team defeated Tata Sports Club by seven wickets in a high scoring contest at the DY Patil Ground in Talegaon on Tuesday.

Asked to bat, Tata posted 206 for six in their 20 overs. Former DY Patil batter Kevin Almeida scored the first ton in the tourney off 66 balls and along with Sufiyan Shaikh brisk fifty led the way with a 107 run opening partnership. In their response Route Mobile was well served by Shaw first. Later, Atharva Kale 55-ball unbeaten 94 ensured their team chased down the target in 19.3 overs with seven wickets in hand.

In the other games at the DY Patil Ground in Talegaon, Lalit Yadav’s all-round show (40 & 2/31) helped Income Tax beat DY Patil Blue by 27 runs in a Group D league match. For DY Patil Blue, skipper Shashank Singh fifty and Arjun Tendulkar’s fine spell of 2/23 went in vain.

Lalit Yadav (3/20) and Mumbai all-rounder Tanush Kotian (2/14) earlier had starred for Income Tax as they beat BPCL by 65 runs in their opening Group match on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day at the University Ground in Nerul, debutant Nirlon prevailed over former finalist Canara Bank by 16 runs in a Group C match. At the Reliance Ground in Talegaon, CAG thumped Central Railway by nine wickets in a Group B match.

Mumbai Customs earlier had outplayed Central Railway by 95 runs at the University Ground. At the DY Patil Ground in Talegaon Jain Irrigation held sway over Indian Navy by 50 runs
