Manda Mhatre, the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Belapur, has announced significant road infrastructure improvements as part of the winter session of the Maharashtra Government's budget for 2024-25. A sum of Rs. 27 crore has been allocated for various road works on the Sion-Panvel highway, a crucial route for commuters in Navi Mumbai.

The government grant will cover several key developments, especially in the Belapur assembly constituency. Notably, the service road on the CBD Belapur flyover (S.No. 123/650 to S.No. 124/150 Mumbai side) will undergo asphalting to improve its quality and prevent accidents caused by its deteriorated condition. Additionally, the Uran flyover slip lane (both sides) on the Sion-Panvel highway will be resurfaced with asphalt, ensuring safer travel for vehicles.

As part of ongoing privatization projects, the construction of a service road between Vashi Junction (S.No. 132/180) and Vashi Shiv Mandir (S.No. 133/500) will continue. The government has also sanctioned the construction of an iron grill fence under the Vashi flyover to prevent unauthorized encroachments and illegal settlements along the highway.

Further measures include the installation of iron railings and repairs to the median barrier between Uran Phata (S.No. 126/350) and the Vashi Toll Plaza (S.No. 134/452). These improvements aim to reduce accidents and enhance safety for drivers, particularly along the Vashi flyover slip lanes, where resurfacing work will also improve asphalt quality.

MLA Manda Mhatre emphasized that these projects are essential for reducing traffic issues and enhancing safety, particularly during the monsoon seasons, when potholes often lead to accidents. The Public Works Department will bear the cost of these infrastructure improvements, marking a significant step towards better connectivity and road safety in the region.
