Sandeep Naik to challenge Belapur Election result in court

top-news

The result of the Belapur Assembly Constituency remains shrouded in uncertainty, with Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate Sandeep Naik announcing his decision to file an appeal in court. Naik expressed concerns about the clarity of the result, which showed Manda Mhatre winning by a narrow margin of 377 votes.

Naik, a prominent figure in the Sharad Chandra Pawar-led Maha Vikas Aghadi, raised doubts about the integrity of the vote counting process. He informed that despite submitting an application to the Election Commission for a complete recount, his request was rejected. Naik had specifically asked for a recount of all EVM machines and the slips in VVPAT machines, but these demands were not entertained.

Furthermore, Naik pointed out that there was no clear tally or vote division for the 16 candidates who participated in the election. With these issues unresolved and no satisfactory explanation from the Election Commission, Naik has now decided to seek justice through the courts.
