The Public Works Department (PWD) has announced a traffic block on the Sion-Panvel Highway on Thursday night, March 6, from 11:00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. (March 7), due to essential repair work on the pedestrian bridge at Sanpada.
Motorists are advised to use Palm Beach Road as an alternative route during this time to avoid congestion.
The Sanpada pedestrian flyover sustained significant damage after being struck by a dumper in the early hours of February 6th.
The impact caused the steel structure and railing of the bridge to bend and break, necessitating immediate repairs.
While pedestrian access to the flyover has been temporarily stopped, the safety of citizens is ensured until the repairs are fully completed.
To facilitate the repair work and minimise traffic disruptions, planned diversions have been announced.
Traffic heading from Vashi towards Panvel will be redirected via Palm Beach Road, allowing for a smoother flow of vehicles while the repairs are underway.
K. R. Gupta, the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, has urged motorists travelling towards Panvel and Pune to cooperate and travel via the Palm Beach Road during the designated hours of the traffic block.
