Subway to be closed for 40 days

In response to persistent concerns about the deteriorating condition of the Sanpada railway station subway, an essential route for east-to-west commuters in Sanpada, had fallen into disrepair, creating hazardous conditions for motorists the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has decided to undertaken urgent repair work, prompting the closure of the crucial passageway for 40 days.

Former transport committee member, Visaji Loke, played a vital role in drawing attention to the pressing need for repairs, ultimately leading to CIDCO's decisive action.

“Hundreds of vehicles cross the Sanpada subway daily, contributing to its wear and tear. Potholes had emerged over time, causing considerable inconvenience to motorists and leading to traffic congestion”, said Loke.

CIDCO has obtained the necessary licenses from the transport department to facilitate the repair process, and the subway will be inaccessible to the public from December 12, 2023, to January 22, 2024. During this 40-day period, commuters are advised to seek alternative routes and plan their journeys accordingly.
