The iconic Dr. D. Y. Patil Stadium in Nerul is hosting Coldplay's highly anticipated music concerts on January 18, 19, and 21, 2025. With an expected turnout of 45,000 spectators each day, Navi Mumbai Police has implemented extensive security and traffic arrangements to ensure a smooth and safe experience.

To maintain law and order, a significant police force has been deployed at the venue:

  • Inside the stadium: 1 Deputy Commissioner of Police, 70 police officers, and 434 personnel on duty daily.
  • Outside the stadium and across Navi Mumbai: 1 Deputy Commissioner of Police, 21 officers, and 440 personnel are tasked with regulating traffic and security.

Plainclothes officers have also been deployed to monitor potential drug activities and prevent the sale of fake tickets. Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-1, Pankaj Dahane, has urged attendees to report any suspicious behaviour to the police helpline at 112.

To manage the high volume of traffic and ensure smooth vehicular flow, special traffic measures have been introduced:

  1. Heavy vehicle restrictions: Entry of heavy vehicles from Uran, Nhava Sheva, Pune, Thane, and Mumbai is banned between 2 PM and 11 PM on event days.
  2. No-parking zones: Areas around DY Patil Stadium, including routes from LP Bridge Signal to Ch. Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and Shani Mandir Kaman to Bhimashankar Chowk, have been designated as no-parking zones.
  3. Alternative routes: Detours have been arranged for vehicles traveling through these areas.

To handle unauthorized parking and accidents, 17 towing cranes have been stationed.

Parking facilities for attendees have been arranged at multiple locations, including Terna Ground (Nerul), Tulsi Maidan, CBD Belapur Parking, and Football Ground (Kharghar). Additionally, free shuttle services and designated pickup points for Ola, Uber, and private taxis are available at Mind Space and Bhimashankar Maidan.

There has been previous contention regarding payment for police security for private events at the DY Patil Stadium, such as IPL matches. However, Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Dahane clarified that the organizers of the Coldplay concerts have already paid for the security arrangements, ensuring no financial burden on the police department.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Transport Department, Tirupati Kakade, reiterated that over 450 traffic police officers and 400 wardens have been deployed to prevent congestion and ensure a hassle-free experience for attendees.
