Holds hunger strike in Turbhe
To highlight the lack of basic amenities in Turbhe Naka Wards 69 and 73, the Shiv Sena (UBT) organized a one-day symbolic hunger strike at Indira Nagar Chowk. The protest aimed to draw the attention of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) to the persistent issues faced by local residents in areas such as Indiranagar, Ganapati Pada, Chunabhatti Quarry, Bonsari Village, Ambedkar Nagar, Ganeshnagar, and Hanuman Nagar.
Residents of these areas have been continuously following up with NMMC regarding irregular water supply, damaged roads, broken public toilets, non-functional streetlights, and the absence of CCTV cameras for security. Despite repeated appeals, no substantial action has been taken, prompting Shiv Sena Sub-city Chief Mahesh Kotiwale to stage the hunger strike.
Kotiwale and other protestors emphasized the need for immediate steps to resolve these issues, including rodent control measures and repair work across public utilities.
Several senior leaders of the Shiv Sena (UBT) extended their support to Kotiwale’s initiative. Shiv Sena District Chief Vitthal More, Deputy District Chief Prakash Patil, Praveen Mhatre, Vinod Mukhe, Siddharam Shilwant, Praveen Jadhav, and Anwar Khan visited the protest site to express solidarity.
