Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leaders, including Rajan Vichare, Naresh Manera, and district chief Kedar Dighe, met with Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao to highlight the ongoing issues plaguing residents of Thane.
These include problems like garbage collection, water shortages, inadequate schemes for women and disabled citizens, security lapses due to delayed CCTV installations, unauthorized constructions, and worsening traffic congestion, especially in the Ghodbunder region.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders pointed out critical concerns, including the long-standing issue of the water tank slab in Lokmanya Savarkar Nagar remaining unrepaired for two years, and unauthorized houses built on municipal land in Dharamveer Nagar. The delegation also highlighted the condition of Thane's lakes, particularly the historic Siddheshwar Lake, and the stench from waste piling up in local areas.
Furthermore, traffic congestion due to the possible merging of the service road with the Eastern Expressway was raised. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders warned that merging the roads could pose serious risks to nearby societies, schools, and hospitals. They demanded that this plan be reconsidered and emphasized the need for a solution before it led to public protests.
Other issues discussed included the condition of roads and dividers, the failure to start construction on the promised multi-religious cemetery, and the delayed provision of free cremation facilities at the municipal crematorium.
Shiv Sena leader Rajan Vichare questioned the government's spending on beautification campaigns and asked why basic infrastructure improvements like garbage management and toilets were still inadequate. He also raised concerns about the impact of water shortages in Ghodbunder and the booming tanker mafia.
Vichare urged Commissioner Saurabh Rao to take decisive action to resolve these issues and prioritize citizens' welfare. He called on the administration to act as responsible public servants and address the pressing concerns of Thanekars, ensuring that the development of the city benefits its residents.
