Sanpada: The Nakhava Sitaram Bhagat Sanskrutik Ustav Mandal’s Sonkharcha Raja is marking the 29th year of its Ganeshotsav celebration with renewed enthusiasm and a commitment to environmental sustainability. The mandal, founded in 1998, has played a significant role in fostering community spirit and development in the Sonkhar - Palm Beach area, which began to see large-scale settlement from 1999.

The Ganeshotsav celebrations, which have grown into a major event in the area, are accompanied this year by a focus on eco-friendliness. In line with this, the mandal has opted for a 9-foot Ganesh idol made entirely of paper mache, ensuring that the festivities remain in harmony with environmental goals. This year’s idol was created by sculptor Moreshwar Pawar.

Founded by Dasharath Sitaram Bhagat and supported by Working President Vithhal Yadav, the mandal has been an example of cultural and social engagement. It has consistently worked to strengthen community bonds through various festivals, including Ganeshotsav, Mahashivratri, Dahihandi, and Navratri.

The mandal's celebration this year emphasizes not only devotion but also social awareness. The board has voiced concerns about issues such as parking, noise, and climate change. It advocates for stricter laws against sexual harassment and the inclusion of self-defense education in school curricula to better protect against such atrocities.

The celebrations aim to bring together citizens from diverse sectors and foster a spirit of cooperation and fraternity. The Nakhava Sitaram Bhagat Sanskrutik Ustav Mandal continues to be a pivotal force in the community, promoting both spiritual and social growth.
