In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, the Election Returning Officer for the 147-Kopri Pachpakhadi Assembly Constituency, Sarjerao Mhaske Patil, organized a voting awareness initiative today (October 18) at Thampa School No. 38 in Shantinagar. This initiative aimed to educate voters about the importance of participating in the electoral process.

During the event, parents attending the Mahila Palak Melava expressed their commitment to voting on November 20, the date of the elections. The highlight of the awareness program was a street play performed by students, which creatively conveyed the significance of voting to the audience.

SVEEP members Rajendra Pardeshi and Anant Sonawane emphasized that democracy grants every citizen the right to vote, urging attendees to exercise this right and contribute to strengthening democratic values. They encouraged everyone to motivate their family members, neighbours, and friends to participate in the voting process. Attendees were also sworn in to pledge their commitment to vote.

In addition to raising awareness, the initiative included the distribution of application forms for new voter registration, specifically targeting new voters who were encouraged to register and participate in the electoral process.

Kamalakant Mhetre, Nodal Officer of the SVEEP Team, along with Sitaram Parab and Avinash Sawant, members of the SVEEP, and school principal Asha Pate, were present to support this vital initiative. The event highlighted the collective responsibility of citizens in shaping their democracy through informed voting.
