Clinches No. 1 spot in Women's Table Tennis rankings

Swastika Ghosh, the rising table tennis star from Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, has proven her dominance in the All India Ranking National Table Tennis Championships 2024. With exceptional performances, Swastika has made a remarkable impact by securing three consecutive finals appearances. She recently clinched the championship title in Chandigarh, following two back-to-back runners-up finishes in Kerala and Karnataka.

The National Ranking Table Tennis Championships took place in Trivandrum, Kerala (December 4–12), and Bangalore, Karnataka (December 15–22), where Swastika showcased remarkable consistency and skill. She dominated her quarterfinal and semifinal matches, securing commanding victories with scores of 3-0, 3-1, 4-0, and 4-2. Despite her impressive form, she faced a narrow 3-4 defeat in the Kerala final against Yashashini Gorpore.

Swastika’s stellar performances have earned her the No. 1 position in the All India Women’s Singles rankings, a significant milestone in her career. After being ranked No. 4 in 2021-22, she faced a challenging year in 2023, dropping to No. 16 and losing her spot on the Indian National Team. However, her current World Rank of 128 and national No. 1 ranking have secured her place back on the team.

Her father and coach, Sandeep Ghosh, expressed immense pride in her achievements and credited Shri Ramsheth Thakur for providing top-notch training facilities at Ramsheth Thakur College in Kharghar, Sector 34.

Looking ahead, Swastika is preparing for two major tournaments: the Inter-State National Table Tennis Championships in Surat (January 19–26) and the prestigious National Games in Dehradun, Uttarakhand (February 10). She will lead the Maharashtra team in both events, determined to extend her winning streak.

For the past two years, Swastika has been sponsored by the DHS Chinese Equipment Company, playing with DHS PLY and Hurricane Rubber, which have played a crucial role in enhancing her game performance.
