Alternative routes announced

Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Traffic Department has announced a temporary road closure in Airoli Sector-15 on August 27, 2024, due to the grand Dahi Handi festival organized by the Airoli Sports Association at Icchapurti Ganpati Mandir Chowk. The closure, which will last from 12 noon to 11 pm, is intended to prevent traffic congestion caused by the large crowds expected to gather for the event.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Tirupati Kakade of the Navi Mumbai Transport Department has issued the notification regarding the closure. In response, the Rabale Traffic Branch has established alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow during the festival.

The affected route includes the stretch from Mumbai to Divagaon Circle via Patni towards Thane. During the closure, vehicles traveling from Mumbai via Divagaon Circle to Patni Thane are advised to use the Thane-Belapur route or take the left side from Swami Chowk to Abhyudaya Bank in Sector-17, then proceed on the right side via Patni towards Thane.

For vehicles coming from Patni to Divagaon Circle, the alternative route is from Abhyudaya Bank in Airoli Sector-17, taking a left from Swami Chowk to the right towards their desired destination. Similarly, vehicles from Datta Mandir or Ichchapurti Ganapati Mandir in Airoli Sector-17 have been provided with an alternative route via Swami Chowk or Abhyudaya Bank in Sector-17 to reach their destinations.

The festival is expected to draw many dignitaries, officials, and well-known actors from the film industry, further contributing to the anticipated large crowd and necessitating these traffic measures.
