Thane Municipal Corporation marks 42nd anniversary

Thane: The Thane Municipal Corporation celebrated its 42nd anniversary on 1st October at Ram Ganesh Gadkari Rangayatan, showcasing its commitment to the development of the city and the well-being of its citizens. Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao addressed the attendees, including municipal officers and employees, highlighting the corporation's reputation as a dedicated local self-government organization since its inception.

During the celebration, Commissioner Rao reviewed the various people-oriented schemes currently being implemented by the Municipal Corporation. He emphasized the need for continuous development aligned with state and national policies, stating, "Thane is changing, and the Municipal Corporation is moving in a planned way towards becoming a Smart Thane”.

The event was attended by several key officials, including Additional Commissioners Sandeep Malvi and Prashant Rode, and Deputy Commissioners G.G. Godepure, Umesh Birari, Meenal Palande, and Medical Health Officer Chetna Nitil. They joined in acknowledging the significant progress made by the Municipal Corporation over the years.

In addition to the speeches, a special entertainment program, Marathi Bana, directed by Ashok Hande, was organized for the enjoyment of Thane Municipal Officers. The celebration also included an award ceremony recognizing the winners of the Ganeshotsav Aras (decoration) competition, where various mandals showcased their creativity and social messages.

The first prize in the competition was awarded to Jai Bhavani Mitra Mandal for their presentation on "Loss of Life Due to Negligence," followed by Ekvira Mitra Mandal's "Kaifiyat Saadhanchi" in second place. The awards for cleanliness were also announced, with the Public Festival Mandal, Savarkar Nagar, taking home the first prize.

Commissioner Saurabh Rao congratulated all the winners and reiterated the commitment of the Thane Municipal Corporation to face new challenges and continue working diligently for the community.

The event concluded with a vibrant atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and pride in the achievements of the Thane Municipal Corporation over the past four decades.
