Thane: As many as 422 unauthorized hoardings were removed by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) as part of a special campaign to remove unauthorised posters, banners, and hoardings within the corporation limits.

The action against illegal hoardings comes a day after TMC removed 665 illegal banners and posters from various locations across the city.

This action was taken in coordination with the encroachment department and the ward committee, deputy commissioner (encroachment) Shankar Patole said.

In this campaign, banners placed on electric poles, trees, road dividers, and roadsides are being removed. Unauthorized posters and hoardings are disfiguring the city and often there is a possibility of such hoardings falling due to the wind, causing accidents, the official said.
