Thane State Excise team seizes Rs. 3.36 lakh worth of illegal country liquor

A significant operation by the flying squad-1 of the Thane State Excise Department led to the seizure of 360 liters of illegal country liquor, valued at Rs. 3,36,180, on Thursday afternoon. The operation, based on reliable intelligence, took place near Prashant Corner on Service Road, leading to Ghodbunder in Anandnagar, Thane.

Around 1:45 pm, the Flying Squad-1 was on routine patrol when they noticed a suspicious car, a Swept Desire, on the road. The vehicle was stopped for inspection, and during the search, the team discovered 36 plastic bags in the trunk, which were found to contain Gavathi liquor. The driver, identified as Kaushal Satish Patil, was arrested on the spot for transporting the illegal liquor.

The seized liquor, which was being illegally trafficked to the village, was confiscated along with the vehicle used in the transport. The total worth of the seized property, including the vehicle, amounted to Rs. 3,36,180.

A case was registered under the prohibition laws, and the accused will face charges for the illegal transportation of village liquor. The action was carried out under the guidance of Joint Commissioner of Enforcement and Vigilance, State Excise, Maharashtra, Prasad Surve, and Divisional Deputy Commissioner, Konkan Division, Pradip Pawar, with support from the team including Thane Inspector M.P. Dhanshetty, Sub Inspector N. R. Mahale, Assistant Sub Inspector B.G. Thorat, and other personnel.
