Dumper driver in police custody
A tragic accident on Friday morning claimed the lives of three individuals when a high-speed Ertiga car collided with a dumper parked on the Vashi Creek Bridge along the Sion-Panvel road. The deceased include the driver of the Ertiga car, Ganesh Uday Singh Bhosale (30), and an elderly couple, Chandrakant Kadgenchi (67) and his wife Sheela Kadgenchi (62), who were traveling from Pune to Mumbai.
The Kadgenchis, who resided in Bibvewadi, Pune, were en route to visit their daughter in Mumbai when their vehicle struck the stationary dumper around 4:00 AM. The Ertiga driver failed to notice the dumper in time, resulting in the severe collision that left all three occupants critically injured.
Emergency services, including the Vashi police and traffic police, responded quickly to the scene and rushed the victims to the hospital; however, they were pronounced dead upon arrival.
Initial investigations revealed that the dumper driver had parked the vehicle negligently on the bridge, where parking is prohibited. Consequently, the Vashi police have registered a case against the dumper driver and taken him into custody.
